Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Officers from the Solidaridad Municipal Public Security Secretariat arrested a man in the Las Palmas neighborhood after his former partner accused him of domestic violence.
Incident Details
During a preventive patrol, municipal police were approached on the street by a visibly distressed woman urgently requesting assistance. The victim reported that her ex-partner had thrown bleach in her face, smashed her cell phone, and verbally threatened her inside their home.
Minutes later, the alleged aggressor exited the residence and was identified by the victim, allowing officers to detain him immediately. The suspect was identified as José Carlos “N,” a 36-year-old man originally from Veracruz.
Legal Proceedings
The detainee was handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes Against Women and Gender-Based Violence, which will compile the corresponding investigation file.
Meanwhile, the victim received support from the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender-Based Violence (GEAVIG). Authorities facilitated her medical evaluation and provided legal assistance.
