Cancún, Mexico — The "Tiburones del Caribe" Taxi Union is currently under scrutiny by the State Attorney General's Office due to alleged internal irregularities. Municipal authorities also reported the apprehension of a taxi driver in Tulum, accused of threatening to kill his partner through the use of social media.
According to preliminary reports, the now-detained individual belonged to a taxi union that is currently under suspicion for various anomalies, which prompted the reopening of its investigation file.
It is necessary to mention that the reasons for which the investigative file on this taxi guild was initially opened were due to the detention of its former union secretary, Eleazar Sagredo, who was found guilty of being the intellectual author of the crime of homicide. This event prompted several taxi drivers to block Federal Highway 307 at the Tulum entrance.
Finally, it is worth remembering that many questioned the ruling handed down to Sagredo, who was sentenced to house arrest, which generated speculation about whether this measure was due to the position he held, from which he had to resign after his detention. As a result of this, authorities have resumed the investigation into possible irregularities within the "Tiburones del Caribe" taxi union.
