Human Remains Found in Green Area of Cancun’s Tres Reyes Neighborhood
Cancun, Quintana Roo — The body of a man in an advanced state of decomposition was discovered Saturday evening in a green area of the Tres Reyes irregular settlement on the outskirts of the city.
The discovery occurred in the third section of the neighborhood, several kilometers from the bypass road to the Cancun International Airport. Residents reported foul odors and the presence of human remains, prompting a call to emergency services.
Officers from the Public Security Department arrived at the scene, confirmed the find, and cordoned off the area to preserve evidence.
Investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office and forensic experts later arrived to begin the investigation and attempt to identify the victim.
The remains were collected and taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death and estimate how long the body had been at the site.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or confirmed whether there were signs of violence.
