Cozumel, Mexico — A man was killed Friday night at a gym located on Avenida Transversal, between 120th and 130th bis avenues. The victim, who managed the establishment, was attacked by two assailants who entered the premises and shot him at point-blank range, causing panic among patrons who scrambled for safety.
The incident occurred shortly after 10:00 p.m. at the business on Avenida Transversal, between 120th and 130th bis. According to witnesses, the attackers arrived on a motorcycle, entered the gym directly, and opened fire on the man without exchanging words.
The victim sustained critical injuries on-site. Despite being aided by paramedics and rushed to a private hospital, he succumbed to his wounds shortly afterward. Municipal police and Mexican Navy personnel secured the area, while agents from the State Attorney General’s Office conducted forensic investigations, collecting shell casings and reviewing security footage from the gym and surrounding areas.
Preliminary inquiries suggest the attack was targeted and premeditated. The assailants fled on the same motorcycle they arrived on and remain at large.
