Cozumel — On Thursday, October 15, at 8:00 p.m., the Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation (FPMC) will inaugurate the painting exhibition “Art + Architecture – Utopia – Dreams – Realities” at the Island Museum. The exhibition features work by architect and landscape designer José Manuel Sáenz Arroyo de los Cobos, known as “Txepo,” and proposes an encounter between art, nature, and architecture. Admission is free and open to the public.
Isela Carrillo Cupul, director of the Island Museum, highlighted that José Manuel Sáenz is a graduate of the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM), has studied landscape architecture in Barcelona, and has professional experience in Mexico, Spain, and the Netherlands. She also noted that he has been based in Cozumel for several years, where he has developed his professional and artistic career.
Carrillo Cupul added that “Txepo’s” works reflect a creative quest that connects the spaces we inhabit with memory, dreams, and imagination. Through them, the artist invites viewers to look, imagine, and reflect on the boundaries between the tangible and the intangible, as well as on the relationship between architectural designs, their surroundings, sustainability, and artistic sensibility.
Carrillo Cupul commented that the artist explores alternatives to integrate human creation with the natural environment through a professional vision focused on spaces that engage with nature and foster a more conscious relationship with the environment.
Juanita Alonso Marrufo, general director of the FPMC, highlighted that the institution promotes the opening of spaces that bring diverse artistic expressions closer to the community and strengthen the cultural life of Cozumel, as promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa in the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo.
The FPMC general director reiterated the invitation to the public to attend the opening of the exhibition “Art + Architecture. Utopia – Dreams – Realities” on Thursday, October 15, at 8:00 p.m. at the Island Museum.
