Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Gunmen opened fire on a home in Chetumal on Thursday night, leaving an 11-year-old girl injured, according to preliminary reports.
The attack occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Calle Petén at the corner with Chicozapote in the Centenario neighborhood. Police officers and emergency crews responded to the scene.
Initial reports indicate the girl was hit by a stray bullet. The gunmen, believed to be riding a motorcycle, also damaged a vehicle and the residence before fleeing.
Police launched a large-scale operation in the area but have not reported any arrests. Investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office arrived at the scene to collect spent shell casings. The motive for the attack remains under investigation.
