Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on a house and a parked car late Sunday night in the Palmas 2 neighborhood, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Flor de Nochebuena Avenue and Palmas 2 Boulevard.
According to witnesses, individuals believed to be on a motorcycle arrived at the residence and fired multiple gunshots at the home and a vehicle parked outside.
Neighbors also reported that the suspects attempted to set the car on fire, but the owner quickly exited the house and extinguished the flames before they could spread.
Municipal police officers arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area while waiting for investigative agents.
At the location, authorities found several spent shell casings and a tourist transport vehicle with multiple bullet impacts.
Officials from the State Prosecutor’s Office later processed the scene to collect evidence and open an investigation file.
No injuries were reported, and paramedics were not required to intervene.
