Free English Classes for Youth in Puerto Aventuras Start June 30

Young students in a classroom during a free English class in Puerto Aventuras

Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — The municipal government of Playa del Carmen, through its Youth Institute, has opened registration for a new group of free introductory English classes in Puerto Aventuras as part of the Injuvelingo program. The course begins June 30, 2026, and aims to help young people develop language skills to improve academic and job opportunities in the Riviera Maya.

Speaking English is increasingly required in Quintana Roo’s job market, especially in tourism, hospitality, gastronomy, international trade, transportation, travel agencies, and specialized services. The program seeks to democratize access to language learning by removing economic barriers that often prevent students from attending private language schools.

Classes will be held twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Youth Institute’s Puerto Aventuras office, located at Avenida Vivero and Calle Bugambilias. Attendance is in-person, and space is limited to ensure personalized attention.

The curriculum covers basic grammar, everyday vocabulary, greetings, numbers, dates, times, and expressions used in hotels, restaurants, and tourism services. Students will also practice listening comprehension, pronunciation, and conversational skills to build confidence in real-life situations.

No prior English experience is required. Interested youth can register by calling 220 532 5807 or checking the official website and social media of the Playa del Carmen Youth Institute. Officials recommend registering early due to limited spots.

Quintana Roo’s economy relies heavily on international tourism, with destinations like Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Cozumel attracting millions of foreign visitors each year. English proficiency is often a key requirement for jobs in hotels, restaurants, theme parks, travel agencies, and other service sectors. Programs like Injuvelingo help young people gain valuable skills for employment, higher education, and international exchange opportunities.
