Four Arrested in Playa del Carmen Kidnapping Case

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Four men have been arrested in Playa del Carmen on suspicion of holding a man against his will and beating him inside his home, the State Prosecutor’s Office said.

The suspects were identified as Cristian Alexis “N,” Jesús Manuel “N,” Román “N” and Vicente “N,” following the Mexican practice of using only partial names for people under investigation. They are being investigated over an aggravated illegal deprivation of liberty reported on Sept. 9 in the Los Pájaros neighborhood.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the four men allegedly entered the victim’s home, then held and beat him while demanding money connected to the sale of solar panels.

The victim was left inside the house, where he shouted for help, prosecutors said. Neighbors heard his cries and reported the incident to the emergency number. The victim’s identity is being withheld.

Neighbors’ Call Led to Arrests

Officers from the municipal Public Security Department responded to the scene and arrested the four suspects, who were turned over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

A prosecutor will determine their legal status within the period established by law. Investigators said they are continuing to work the case to establish what happened and determine whether the detainees bear responsibility.
