Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Former officials from Lili Campos Miranda’s municipal administration appeared Tuesday before Playa del Carmen’s Internal Control Body, formerly the municipal Comptroller’s Office, to answer findings identified during their tenure.
Kira Iris San, former general secretary and treasurer, and Arnulfo Ascencio, former social communication coordinator, were among those present. Both declined to comment to reporters.
Their appearance is a required step to guarantee their right to be heard and to allow them to address the observations raised by the oversight body.
Municipal Comptroller Cristina Alcérreca said in an earlier interview that 12 case files have been opened against various former officials and will be referred to the Administrative Justice Tribunal to determine responsibility.
The former officials could be sanctioned or disqualified from holding public office.
Kira Iris had already appeared before the Internal Control Body. Former Mayor Lili Campos Miranda has filed an amparo injunction to delay the process.
