Playa del Carmen — The renowned local artistic institution Explayarte Producciones celebrates over 15 years of musical theater with the staging of “The Addams Family,” a musical based on the beloved characters created by Charles Addams. Performances will take place on November 22 at 5:00 p.m. and on November 23 at 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., at the Teatro de la Ciudad de Playa del Carmen.
This funny and dark musical comedy shows the Addams family facing a very human situation: Wednesday Addams has grown up and fallen in love with a “normal” young man. What should be a simple dinner to meet the future in-laws turns into a night full of revelations, hilarious chaos, and deeply moving moments. The result is a story where love and acceptance triumph, even amid the macabre.
With music by Andrew Lippa and a script by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, the play is presented under official license from Theatrical Rights Worldwide, NY.
Explayarte, with 22 years of history in Playa del Carmen, has established itself as an educational and artistic platform with significant regional impact. Since its founding, it has developed a strong tradition in musical theater, always with live music and a selection of ambitious, high-quality productions.
Its historical repertoire includes titles such as CATS, Jesus Christ Superstar, Seussical, Pippin, Chicago, Spring Awakening, In the Heights, Les Misérables, School of Rock, Matilda, among many others, solidifying Explayarte as a benchmark for youth musical theater in the region.
