Eleven People Charged in Drug Cases Across Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum

Cancún, Quintana Roo — The State Prosecutor’s Office has announced that eleven people have been formally charged in connection with drug-related offenses in the tourist destinations of Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum. The charges are part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the state.

Judges issued the rulings in separate cases across the municipalities. In Cancún, located in Benito Juárez municipality, Mario Rubén “N” faces charges for allegedly supplying marijuana. In a separate incident, Ángel de Jesús “N” was charged with simple possession of the same drug.

In Playa del Carmen, nine individuals appeared before judicial authorities in various hearings. Alexis Eduardo “N”, David Gustavo “N”, Nataly “N”, Christian Javier “N”, and Jesús Abelardo “N” received preventive detention as a precautionary measure after being accused of possession with intent to supply marijuana and methamphetamine. In contrast, Jonathan Yoseid “N” and Fernanda Rubí “N” were charged with simple possession of the same substances.

Additionally, in another case within the same municipality, Elías “N” was charged with simple possession of marijuana after being caught in the act by investigators.

In Tulum, Mayte “N” was charged with possession with intent to supply marijuana. Authorities arrested her on Kukulkán Avenue during a joint operation involving state, federal, and municipal officials. She will remain in preventive detention.
