Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A dramatic traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Avenida Juárez and Avenida 45 when a taxi driver attempting to cut off a pickup truck caused a collision that left both vehicles with visible damage.
According to initial reports, the taxi driver, who operates a vehicle belonging to the municipal union, tried to pass a private pickup truck while traveling on Avenida Juárez. The maneuver failed when the taxi invaded the other vehicle’s lane, resulting in an impact at the intersection with Avenida 45.
Witnesses said the taxi driver attempted to merge suddenly without taking proper precautions, leading to the crash. Municipal Transit Department officers who arrived at the scene confirmed that the pickup truck’s driver and passengers appeared to be intoxicated.

The taxi driver called his insurance company to cover material damages to both vehicles. Despite the severity of the accident, no injuries were reported, and paramedics were not required at the site.
Authorities completed necessary procedures and coordinated vehicle removal to restore normal traffic flow in the area.
