Driver Suffers Seizure, Crashes in Cancun; One Dead

A damaged delivery truck crashed into a concrete pole on a Cancun avenue.

Cancun, Quintana Roo — A worker died and two others were injured Monday afternoon when a City Club delivery truck crashed into a concrete pole belonging to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) on Kabah Avenue near Supermanzana 221.

According to initial reports, the driver suffered an epileptic seizure while traveling along the busy road, causing him to lose control and slam into the concrete structure.

The impact crushed a worker riding in the truck bed under several hand trucks and boxes being transported. The victim died instantly at the scene.

The driver and front-seat passenger were injured and received medical attention from Red Cross paramedics and a private emergency service. Both were taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

Traffic officers, municipal police, and personnel from the State Prosecutor’s Office arrived to conduct investigations and remove the body. An inquiry has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the fatal accident.

Traffic in the area was disrupted for several hours during emergency response and vehicle removal.
