Cyclist Killed on Cancun-Merida Highway Hit-and-Run

Cancun, Quintana Roo — A cyclist died early Friday after being struck by a vehicle on the Cancun-Merida federal highway in a hit-and-run, authorities said.

The victim was riding his bicycle on a stretch of road known for its danger when a vehicle traveling at high speed hit him, according to preliminary reports. The driver did not stop at the scene.

The impact killed the cyclist instantly. Emergency services and police responded, cordoning off the area.

The man was a resident of a nearby community and was on his way to work at the time of the crash, officials said. The incident has caused shock among local residents.

No arrests have been made. Investigators are working to locate the driver and determine the circumstances of the crash.
