Cozumel Red Cross Launches 2026 Annual Fundraising Drive with 200,000 Peso Goal

Authorities and volunteers participate in the launch of the Cozumel Red Cross annual fundraising campaign

Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The Cozumel Red Cross launched its 2026 annual fundraising campaign on Thursday, setting a goal of 200,000 pesos to maintain emergency medical services on the island.

Andrea Martell Delbuois, president of the Cozumel Red Cross, led the campaign kickoff, emphasizing that every donation represents an investment in community safety. “Today is not just any day—it’s a day that reminds us who we are when someone else needs us,” she said. “The Mexican Red Cross doesn’t ask who it helps; it simply arrives when needed most.”

The funds will support the local delegation’s operations, which include two ambulances, a fleet of paramedics, and a clinic wing. Martell Delbuois noted that maintaining these services requires constant investment in training, equipment, and facility maintenance, but every peso returns to the community through medical care and emergency response.

Approximately 40 young volunteers will conduct fundraising activities at various island locations, adapting to their school schedules with morning and afternoon collections. This year’s campaign features a renewed focus with public space activations, digital activities, and social events.

Volunteers will implement innovative approaches including first aid demonstrations, emergency backpack workshops, and educational activities in plazas and parks. Martell Delbuois highlighted the energy and creativity of the young volunteers driving these initiatives.

The Red Cross president thanked existing business benefactors and called on new generations of businesses and young companies to participate through corporate social responsibility. She noted that donations are tax-deductible and that the Red Cross offers medical services through support agreements.
