Cancún Hosts Historic 2025 Badminton Tournament

CANCÚN, QRoo — With the participation of more than 100 child and youth players, the Cancún 2025 Badminton Tournament was held, the first in Quintana Roo to be sanctioned by the Mexican Federation of the sport.

The competition, held at the "Lion Sport Center" of the Anáhuac University, was supported by the Quintana Roo State Sports Commission (CODEQ), led by Jacobo Arzate Hop, as part of the actions to strengthen sports in the state.

Matches were contested across various categories over three days. The winners of the First Force category were Alexa Ángel from Mexico City in the women's division, and Ricardo Orozco from Quintana Roo in the men's division.

In the Second Force category, Ivanna Rangel from Mexico City and Marco Ruiz from Yucatán were crowned champions, while the Mixed Doubles title was won by Mauricio Garduño and Leonardo Ponce, also from the capital.

In the youth categories, the victories of Tiana López from Cancún (Women's Under-13) and Constanza Castañeda from Mexico City (Women's Under-15) stood out.

The awards ceremony was led by Arzate Hop, who emphasized that this tournament is an important step toward consolidating badminton in the state and increasing the number of participants.
