Cancun, Quintana Roo — With its 50th anniversary approaching this winter, the Hotel Association of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres (AHCPMIM) convened its advisory council to discuss the organization’s future direction.
President Rodrigo de la Peña, who took office in 2025 for a term running through 2028, called the session with the advisory council, which is composed of former presidents of the association. The meeting aimed to reflect on current challenges and review priorities set by the board to continue raising hospitality standards.
The advisory council brings together the experience and business vision of Jesus Almaguer Salazar, Abelardo Vara Rivera, Jose Chapur Zahoul and Roberto Cintron Gomez — leaders whose contributions have been vital to building a historically resilient and forward-looking organized hotel industry. In today’s dynamic environment, the council’s experience across different scenarios provides invaluable insight for anticipating and addressing industry and market complexities.
Lisbeth Melo Morales, executive vice president of AHCPMIM, also participated in the working session to ensure that internal operations and plans remain aligned with this long-term vision.
“We are about to reach half a century as an association, and the respect and support we have among those who have held this position throughout its history is extremely valuable,” de la Peña said. “We have faced very different challenges in our past administrations, and each person’s experience helps us set the course for the next 50 years.”
The session was held at the association’s member hotel Le Blanc Spa Resort Cancun, whose general manager and staff provided hospitality for the high-level meeting on tourism development in Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres.
