Hidden Cameras Found in Quintana Roo Motel Rooms After Raid

The State Attorney General’s Office confirmed that cameras were found inside rooms of a motel in Quintana Roo after executing a search warrant at an establishment located in Chunhuhub, in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto. The intervention was carried out in coordination with the National Guard and Municipal Police, stemming from a complaint regarding the crime of disappearance committed by private individuals.

The Complaint That Initiated the Investigation

According to the FGE, the action was carried out following a complaint filed with the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Crimes of Forced Disappearance and Disappearance Committed by Private Individuals. Based on that complaint, authorities compiled an investigation file and gathered sufficient legal elements to request a search warrant from the judicial body, which was granted.

The diligence focused on a motel identified as a possible scene of illicit activities related to the disappearance of a person. Given the suspicion that key evidence might be found on the premises, tactical teams and forensic experts entered the location to inspect each area.

DVR and Memory Cards Seized

During the operation, agents located and seized a digital video recorder (DVR) and several micro SD cards, allegedly used to store recordings obtained with cameras placed in private spaces of the establishment. This reinforced the concern that cameras were found inside rooms of a motel in Quintana Roo, which could constitute an additional crime.

The seized equipment was made available to the corresponding authority for analysis, as it could contain relevant evidence to clarify the investigation.

After concluding the inspection, agents placed security seals and the property remained under the custody of the Prosecutor’s Office. Authorities will continue analyzing the content of the electronic devices to determine responsibilities and expand the investigation.
