Businessman and Driver Found Dead Weeks After Vanishing in Mexico

Quintana Roo, Mexico — The bodies of businessman Osberth Nicolás de Atocha Valle Pinzón and his driver, Fernando Hermosillo Curiel, were discovered nearly three weeks after they were reported missing in Kantunilkín, a town in the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas. The remains were found inside a black bag abandoned in a brush-covered area in Leona Vicario, Puerto Morelos.

Discovery and Identification

The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) led an interagency operation that located the victims on Monday, April 21. Forensic experts transported the bodies to the Benito Juárez Forensic Medical Service (Semefo), where subsequent examinations confirmed their identities. The remains were later released to their families.

Osberth Nicolás, 41, owned Osberth Valle, a company specializing in hair care product distribution in Quintana Roo. Both men had last been seen on April 10, prompting an official search that began the following day.

Investigation and Public Response

The FGE deactivated the active search notices on Wednesday, April 30, stating that the operation involved field work, technical analysis, and administrative coordination. Authorities emphasized their commitment to legal certainty and dignified treatment of the deceased.

No arrests have been made in connection with the case, but the FGE confirmed that the investigation remains open to determine responsibility. The deaths have sparked outrage among the victims’ acquaintances, who are demanding justice and faster progress in the inquiry.

The FGE has not disclosed potential motives or suspects but assured the public that efforts to clarify the circumstances are ongoing.
