Cancun, Quintana Roo — A 17-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting Tuesday night after two men on a motorcycle opened fire on him in the Avante neighborhood, about 600 meters from José López Portillo Avenue.
The attack occurred around 9:20 p.m. as the teenager was walking in the area. The two suspects intercepted him and began shooting repeatedly, according to police reports.
The victim ran to escape the gunfire, with the attackers chasing him on the motorcycle. He managed to enter a nearby home and ask for help. Residents immediately called 911, prompting a response from Municipal Public Security officers and private ambulance paramedics.
Paramedics treated the teenager at the scene for a gunshot wound to the buttocks. While receiving care, he told authorities that two individuals on a motorcycle had suddenly started shooting at him.
The injured teen was taken to the General Hospital. Later, officers from the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender Violence (GEAVIG) and agents from the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) arrived at the hospital to interview the victim and gather information for the investigation file.
