Benito Juárez municipal officials have urged drivers to ensure their documentation is up to date and to adhere to safety measures. These include wearing seat belts and helmets, and exercising caution while driving during the rains brought on by tropical storm "Alberto".
The reminders are being issued at security checkpoints set up throughout the city by the Municipality of Benito Juárez, the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Traffic (SMSCyT), and the Secretary of the Navy. These checkpoints are part of an initiative to prevent crime and protect the well-being of Cancún residents.
On Thursday evening, municipal and federal authorities conducted security checks in the districts of Supermanzana 518, 92, and 240. Their goals were to recover stolen vehicles and to detect and seize drugs and weapons.
Officials also announced the implementation of the "Safe Passenger" operation. This involves random inspections on public transport to prevent the possession of weapons or objects that could be used in criminal activities.
These measures will be carried out throughout the day at various strategic points in the city. Officials are asking for the cooperation of Cancún residents to ensure the success of these initiatives.
