CANCÚN, QROO — Traffic flow on Boulevard Kukulcán in Cancún's hotel zone was temporarily interrupted this Sunday due to a fire involving a pickup truck near kilometer 17, close to the Mirador lookout point.

The incident was reported to emergency services, mobilizing firefighters, paramedics, and Civil Protection personnel who responded to the scene to control the flames. According to initial reports, the fire originated in the lower part of the vehicle, possibly in the gasoline tank or the electrical system.

The truck, a Nissan pickup, was completely charred and declared a total loss.

No injuries were reported; however, the driver was treated for a nervous crisis. Employees of the fruit and vegetable company who were traveling in the vehicle escaped unharmed, described in the report as having had a miraculous escape.

Municipal Traffic Agents were responsible for filing the report and coordinating the removal of the vehicle with a tow truck, which allowed for the restoration of traffic on the boulevard.

Authorities continue with the investigation to determine the exact origin of the fire.
