Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The municipal government of Playa del Carmen, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, has been ranked as the third best in the country for public service quality, according to the latest national study by polling firm Rubrum, published in June 2025.

With a score of 5.99, Playa del Carmen secured its place among the top three municipalities for citizen satisfaction in services such as waste collection, street lighting, and maintenance of parks and public spaces. Only Huixquilucan, State of Mexico, and Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, ranked higher.

The study also highlighted other notable achievements for the municipality: eighth place nationally for overall mayoral performance, seventh for government accessibility to the public, and fourth for perceived safety.

“This confirms that when you govern with heart, commitment, and tireless effort, people recognize it. This result belongs to everyone who works for a clean, dignified, and vibrant city,” Mayor Mercado stated.

The evaluation was conducted from June 2 to 7 through randomized telephone surveys, reinforcing the municipal government’s trajectory of tangible, community-driven improvements.

The recognition follows other recent initiatives by the administration, including strengthened support for local entrepreneurs and business owners through partnerships with organizations like Sindemex.
