Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — Two men died in a violent traffic accident Saturday afternoon after their vehicle lost control on Químico Pastrana Avenue, heading toward Kabah Avenue. Authorities suspect excessive speed and possible alcohol consumption contributed to the crash.
Fatal Collision on Continental Zone Roadway
The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. when emergency services received reports of a overturned vehicle near Villas del Mar in Isla Mujeres’ continental zone. Witnesses stated the driver of a gold Chevrolet Chevy lost control on a curve, causing the car to spin multiple times before rolling into roadside vegetation.
First responders from the Heroic Fire Department and private paramedics arrived to find both occupants deceased, trapped inside the severely damaged vehicle. Municipal police cordoned off the area to preserve evidence while investigators interviewed witnesses.
Investigation Underway
Forensic teams from the State Attorney General’s Office and investigative police later processed the scene. The victims, whose identities remain undisclosed, were transported to the Medical Forensic Service.
Preliminary accounts suggest alcohol may have been a factor, though ministerial police are conducting further inquiries to confirm the circumstances. The case marks the latest in a series of recent traffic fatalities linked to reckless driving in Quintana Roo.
