A group of 31 individuals, believed to be Cuban, were rescued 222 kilometers off the coast of Isla Mujeres. They were discovered adrift in a boat by the Ninth Naval Region of the Mexican Navy in Quintana Roo.
The group was initially spotted by a foreign ship, which then alerted the Command and Control Room of the Ninth Naval Region. In response, the Navy immediately dispatched a coastal patrol and an interceptor patrol to rescue the stranded individuals.
The rescue team, comprised of naval personnel, successfully saved nine women, 21 men, and a minor. All were reported to be in good health.
Following the rescue, the group was transported to Puerto Juarez, Quintana Roo, in accordance with human rights protocols. Upon arrival, they were handed over to the National Institute of Migration authorities to undergo the necessary legal procedures.
