Woman Denounces Lack of Justice After Alleged Torture and Unjust Imprisonment in Quintana Roo

Lili Marbella Dominguez speaking about her case in Chetumal, Quintana Roo

Chetumal, Quintana Roo — A woman identified as Lili Marbella Dominguez has denounced what she calls a lack of justice nearly a decade after her arrest and imprisonment in Chetumal by officers from the former State Judicial Police.

In an interview, Dominguez said she was wrongfully accused and spent three years and nine months in prison, during which she claims she was tortured. She stated that despite irregularities in her case file, the State Prosecutor’s Office has not taken action to clarify the facts.

“To this day, nothing has been done. It’s well known that the entire case file is flawed,” said the affected woman, who added that she has sought support even from national human rights institutions without obtaining results.

Dominguez said she has faced constant changes in legal defense over the years, which has delayed the process. She also denounced that she has received no economic or institutional support, forcing her to face the consequences of her case alone.

She explained that her health has deteriorated due to the aggression she suffered during her detention. She reported problems with her back and knee that make walking difficult.

“I have a back problem from the torture… sometimes I feel like I can’t walk,” she said.

Furthermore, she claimed she continues to face difficulties in her daily life, saying she feels watched and stigmatized, which prevents her from living peacefully.

The complainant called on state authorities, including the governor and legislators, to intervene in her case and review her situation.

“I just want justice to be done, for someone to help me,” she expressed.
