Bacalar, Quintana Roo — A hotel in Bacalar was damaged by a fire Saturday afternoon, with preliminary reports suggesting a welding spark may have ignited the blaze.
The incident occurred on Costera Avenue, between 34th and 36th Streets, prompting a response from emergency services.
According to initial information, workers were conducting welding tasks at the site, and a spark is believed to have started the flames. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the hotel.
Firefighters, officers from the Public Security Department, and members of the National Emergency Commission coordinated to control the fire. Paramedics provided immediate care to guests and workers, none of whom were injured.
Police cordoned off the area until firefighters extinguished the blaze, and civil protection officials conducted assessments to rule out further risks. Authorities will determine the exact cause of the fire and evaluate the material damage.
