Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Authorities discovered a body on Playa 72 beach in Playa del Carmen on Saturday night, prompting a major investigation at the remote coastal site.
Officials from the State Prosecutor’s Office and municipal police responded to the area at the end of Avenida Colosio after receiving reports of a deceased person on the beach. Preliminary information suggests the individual may have drowned, though authorities have not confirmed the official cause of death.
Investigators established a perimeter as forensic experts and agents conducted their work. Access to the location where the body was found proved challenging due to the long, extensive path required to reach that section of beach.
Authorities remained on scene to complete their investigation before transporting the body to the Forensic Medical Service for further examination.
