Quintana Roo, Mexico — The Quintana Roo government has issued a reminder to vehicle owners regarding the mandatory license plate registration process for 2025. Motorists who have recently purchased cars or motorcycles must complete this procedure to avoid fines and penalties.

License Plate Fees for 2025

The Secretary of Government of Quintana Roo has published the updated costs for vehicle license plates on its official Facebook page. The fees are as follows:

  • Motorcycles: 509 pesos
  • Passenger vehicles (automobiles): 1,527 pesos
  • Trailers: 707 pesos

These costs do not include additional charges such as late fees, back taxes, or other obligations from previous years.

Why Registration Matters

Registering a vehicle ensures legal compliance, protects owners from potential fines, and grants access to tax incentives and other benefits provided by municipal and state transit authorities.

Required Documents for Registration

To complete the license plate application process in 2025, vehicle owners must submit the following documents:

  • Original vehicle invoice
  • Valid government-issued ID (voter card, passport, or professional license)
  • Recent proof of address (no older than three months)
  • CURP (Unique Population Registry Code) of the owner
  • Payment receipt for the registration fee
  • Completed license plate application form

All documents must be presented in both original and copy form for verification.

Where to Register

Applications must be processed at the local tax collection office in the municipality where the vehicle owner resides. The Quintana Roo Tax Administration Service has urged residents to complete this process promptly to avoid legal complications.

Failure to register a vehicle may result in traffic stops, fines, or other penalties during routine enforcement operations conducted by municipal and state authorities.
