Motorcycle Crash in Cancún Leaves Two Seriously Injured

Two motorcyclists lying on the pavement after a collision in Cancún

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A severe collision between two motorcycles occurred on Sunday in the Tres Reyes neighborhood, resulting in both riders sustaining serious injuries. Paramedics provided emergency care and transported them to a hospital.

The motorcycle crash took place around 3:00 p.m., approximately 500 meters from José López Portillo Avenue, when one of the involved parties apparently exited the parking area of several commercial establishments and crossed into the path of the other vehicle.

Both motorcyclists were not wearing helmets and suffered a severe impact when they fell onto the asphalt. One of them had blood-stained clothing due to a head wound.

Initial reports indicated that one of the motorcyclists was in a state of intoxication and crossed into the path of a tortilla delivery person, causing the severe impact. Several employees from the commercial establishments and neighbors approached to provide assistance.

Paramedics from a private ambulance subsequently arrived, providing first aid to the injured and transporting them to the General Hospital. Family members of the two motorcyclists arrived at the scene, and at times there was a discussion about who was at fault in the incident.

The accident drew attention from residents in this heavily trafficked area that connects the Tres Reyes neighborhood with José López Portillo Avenue, on the city’s exit route toward Mérida.

Personnel from the Municipal Traffic Directorate’s forensic unit arrived at the scene of the incident when the two involved parties were no longer present, having been transported to a hospital, with only the two motorcycles left lying in the roadway.

A traffic forensic expert gathered information about what happened for the subsequent removal of the motorcycles to an impound lot and referred the case to the Public Prosecutor’s Office to determine liability for the injuries and damage to the two motorcycles.
