Cancún, Mexico — Two men were detained on Thursday afternoon following a police pursuit in the Cielo Nuevo neighborhood. The individuals were identified as alleged perpetrators of a femicide that occurred days earlier in the city's Region 252.
Pursuit and Arrest
The operation began when the Quintana Roo C5 Security Complex detected a white Ford F150 truck through its video surveillance system. The vehicle matched the description of the one used to abandon the victim's body.
With support from camera monitoring, agents from the Municipal Police and the Ministerial Investigative Police tracked the vehicle to Region 249, which sparked a pursuit through several streets of the neighborhood.
The mobilization concluded around 4:30 p.m. on Isla Magdalena Street, next to the CBTIS school, where police managed to intercept the truck and capture the two suspects.
Investigation and Detainees
Both men were transferred to Municipal Police facilities, certified by a forensic medical examiner, and subsequently made available to the Public Prosecutor's Office, which will continue with the investigation to determine their legal status.
According to unofficial information, the truck had reportedly been seen days earlier leaving a dirt road where a woman's body was located.
The State Attorney General's Office has not yet issued official information, though it is not ruled out that the detainees may be connected to other violent incidents recently registered in Cancún.
