Two Men Arrested in Cancun With Nearly 200 Bags of Drugs
Cancun, Quintana Roo — Police arrested two men in the Alfredo V. Bonfil neighborhood on Monday, seizing nearly 200 bags of drugs and ammunition, authorities said.
Diego Ángel “N” and José Antonio “N” were taken into custody on charges of drug possession and weapons violations, according to the Public Security Department.
Officers from the Centurion Group, working with the Mexican Navy, the Army, and the National Guard, spotted the two men exchanging small plastic bags on a public street, officials said.
The arrest occurred on Benito Juárez Avenue between Luis Echeverria Avenue and Javier Rojo Gómez Street in the 308 supermanzana of the Ejido Alfredo V. Bonfil neighborhood.
A search of the suspects turned up a lunchbox, a reusable bag, 147 ziploc bags containing dried green vegetation resembling marijuana, 38 ziploc bags with crystalline fragments resembling crystal meth, 15 live 9mm rounds, and 200 pesos in cash.
The suspects were handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Drug Dealing.
