Tulum Adds Artisan Market and Caribbean Culture Festival to Its Tourism Lineup

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Tulum will fold new cultural activities into its tourism offerings under an agenda that includes a permanent artisan market at Parque del Jaguar and events tied to the Caribbean Culture Festival from October 8 to 11, officials said.

Lilian Villanueva Chan, head of the Institute of Culture and Arts of Quintana Roo (ICA), said the goal is to strengthen the community’s identity and give visitors interested in local heritage more options to explore.

She said the initiatives form part of the “Tulum Renace” program, developed in coordination with the federal government and the Tulum municipal government. The strategy aims to recover and promote traditions and cultural expressions while weaving them into community tourism experiences.

Artisans to get a permanent space at Parque del Jaguar

Among the projects is a permanent artisan market at Parque del Jaguar, which will be developed with the participation of the municipal Tourism and Culture departments. The aim is to create a space for showcasing local products and expressions while expanding the activities available to visitors.

Tulum will also be one of the host cities for the Caribbean Culture Festival, with events scheduled from October 8 to 11. Activities will be split between the main public plaza and Parque Hawa, home to the Regional Museum of the Eastern Coast. The full program has yet to be released.

Villanueva Chan said the agenda is intended to broaden Tulum’s cultural and tourism promotion beyond its traditional attractions, through activities that bring visitors and residents closer to the region’s heritage and community traditions. Details of the events will be presented in the coming days.
