A tourist visiting Cancún recently filmed an incident where two van-type vehicles blocked an Uber near Cancún International Airport. The 32-second video shows the two vans positioning themselves in front of the Uber, forcing the driver to reverse.
In the footage, two men dressed in denim pants and dark shirts can be seen running towards the Uber. They manage to open the car door and utter some threatening words. The driver quickly reacts, closing the car door and speeding off.
The vans attempt to block the Uber again, but the driver skillfully evades them and escapes the scene. According to local media in Quintana Roo, the vans are suspected to be part of an illegal 'pirate' transport service trying to prevent the Uber driver from operating.
The video reveals an empty avenue with no sign of local authorities or other security forces such as the National Guard.
