Tizimín, Yucatán — The municipality of Tizimín is in deep mourning after three well-known residents died in less than 24 hours, and a fourth death was reported hours later in the coastal town of El Cuyo.
The deceased were identified as Waldemar Coronado Fernández, a prominent rancher and former city councilman who served from 2010 to 2012; Luis Alejandro Uc Cuxim, a young man widely appreciated for his participation in the Catholic Church’s youth ministry; and Prof. Addiel Medina Domínguez, a teacher and administrator at CBTA No. 14, remembered for his dedication to educating generations of students.
Each left a distinct but significant legacy in the community: public service and support for the livestock sector, pastoral work with young people, and education as a driving force for social development.
Once news of the deaths spread, social media was flooded with farewell messages, photographs, anecdotes and expressions of solidarity for the families, reflecting the affection and respect the people of Tizimín held for them.
Another Death in El Cuyo
The day was also marked by a tragic event in the port of El Cuyo, where on Tuesday afternoon a 50-year-old man identified by the initials N.H.O. — known to neighbors as “El Chiapaneco” or “Nato” — was found dead inside his home on Calle 28 near Calle 23.
Around 4 p.m., the body was discovered at the residence. Municipal police and officers from the Public Security Department responded to the emergency call and confirmed the death. The area was cordoned off while investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office carried out the corresponding procedures and removed the body according to legal protocol.
Authorities continue the investigation and are compiling the case file.
