Hotel Esencia, Montage Los Cabos and Four Seasons Tamarindo were named among the world's top 100 hotels in The 50 Best Hotels 2026 list.

Mexico City — Three hotels in Mexico have been named among the world’s top 100 properties in The 50 Best Hotels 2026 ranking.

Hotel Esencia, on the Riviera Maya in Quintana Roo, placed 64th; Montage Los Cabos ranked 67th; and Four Seasons Tamarindo, in Jalisco south of Puerto Vallarta, came in 74th.

Hotel Esencia, No. 64

Originally the vacation home of an Italian duchess, Hotel Esencia sits on Xpu-Ha beach in the Riviera Maya. The property’s 47 suites and four villas are spread across grounds surrounded by tropical jungle, with open-air architecture, terraces overlooking the Caribbean and swimming pools.

The hotel includes a spa, gym and tennis court and offers kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding at Laguna Escondida as well as panoramic helicopter flights. Its restaurants are Beefbar, focused on steak; Mistura, serving Mexican and Mediterranean cuisine; and Taiyo, a Japanese omakase spot.

Address: Carretera Cancún–Tulum km 265, Xpu-Ha, Quintana Roo.

Montage Los Cabos, No. 67

Montage Los Cabos pairs contemporary architecture with the desert landscape of Santa María Bay in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur. The resort has 122 ocean-view rooms and three pools, plus family recreation and cultural experiences, water and sports activities, and its own golf course.

For relaxation, the property has a wellness center offering Pilates, yoga and meditation classes and spa treatments. Restaurants include Mezcal, a gourmet Mexican dining option with an extensive selection of wines, tequilas and mezcales from across Mexico, and Marea, which changes its menu from day to night.

Address: Twin Dolphin, Carretera Transpeninsular km 12.5, Bahía Santa María, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur.

Four Seasons Tamarindo, No. 74

Four Seasons Tamarindo is a well-kept secret south of Puerto Vallarta, in Jalisco. The resort sits on the Costa de la Alegría, where natural scenery and a tranquil atmosphere shape the stay. It lies within a 1,220-hectare reserve on a cliff about 200 meters from the beach and is accessible only by private plane or boat.

Guests can explore Pacific trails, beaches and coves, and sometimes spot wildlife such as birds, whales, dolphins and turtles from the villas and casitas. The property has infinity pools, a spa, a gym and a golf course. Its Coyul restaurant, led by chef Elena Reygadas, centers on local ingredients, while Sal y Nacho brings coastal flavors to its dishes and snacks.

Address: Carretera Federal 200 km 7.5, Barra de Navidad, La Huerta, Jalisco.

The three hotels showcase the breadth of Mexico’s luxury hospitality, from Caribbean beachfront to desert coastline and jungle cliffs.
