A 14-year-old boy is suspected of carrying out an armed attack on a bar in Playa del Carmen, injuring an Argentinean passerby. The incident occurred at the El Olimpo bar, situated on Juarez Avenue in the Ejidal neighborhood.

Local residents reported that the teenager fired shots at the bar's facade before attempting to flee on a motorcycle. Officers from the Solidaridad Municipal Police quickly arrived on the scene and apprehended him.

Upon interrogation, the police learned that the suspect, known as Jesus “N”, is just 14 years old. He was arrested on 4th North Street and has since been placed under the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Investigation of Crimes Committed by Adolescents.

The victim, a 25-year-old Argentinean named Alejandro, was shot in the left leg. He was simply passing by the bar when the shooting began. Paramedics treated him at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital.

Forensic professionals discovered approximately 10 shell casings at the scene while conducting their investigation. The motive behind the attack is still unclear, but authorities suspect it could be related to extortion, a crime that is becoming increasingly common in Playa del Carmen and throughout Quintana Roo.
