The Taxi Drivers' Union, Caribbean Chauffeurs and Similar, “Andrés Quintana Roo”, is experiencing escalating internal conflict and violence. The situation has intensified as the State Attorney General's office of Quintana Roo has implicated Salomón "N", also known as "Maffer", and his associates Óscar Antonio "N" and Jonathan Emmanuel "N", in a series of serious crimes. They are suspected of involvement in several cases of homicide, shedding light on a network of rivalry and violence within the Cancún transporters union.
The union is notorious for its power and the allegations of abuse and intimidation that surround it. The investigation was triggered by the discovery of a union collaborator's body in a green area near the Cancún-Mérida federal highway. The victim had been reported missing on October 25 and was found dead days later. Salomón "N" and Óscar Antonio "N" are considered the main suspects in this case, believed to be central figures in a violent network that may involve more union members.
In a separate case, Jonathan Emmanuel "N" is accused of participating in the murder of two operators from the same union. The victims were reportedly tortured and killed before their bodies were left in an unpaved area. These crimes, which occurred on September 12, highlight a surge of violence within the union and suggest a pattern of violent conflict resolution.
The control judges of Quintana Roo have ordered preventive prison for the three accused, who could face lengthy prison sentences if found guilty. Salomón "N", the interim leader of the union known as "Maffer", is now facing a legal process that could significantly impact the future of the union. This union is one of the most influential and controversial labor organizations in the region.
For the authorities, these crimes represent not only a tragedy for the victims' families but also an opportunity to intervene in an institution whose internal conflicts and power struggles have directly impacted its members. The Prosecutor's Office is continuing to gather evidence and make progress in the case, aiming to dismantle what they describe as "a scheme of abuse and threats" within the union.
