A significant blow to crime was struck in Playa del Carmen when a leader of a criminal cell was arrested. The arrest was made by the Attorney General's Office (FGR) during a security operation. Over a kilogram of cocaine and a thousand doses of narcotics were seized during the operation.
The operation took place in the Nicte Ha neighborhood, on a property located on Fifth Avenue, between Fernando Montes de Oca and Vicente Suárez streets. The operation was conducted in accordance with a search warrant issued by a Control Judge.
Federal Ministerial Police (PFM) agents, under the FGR, carried out the operation on Saturday afternoon. Two individuals were arrested, including the leader of the criminal cell and an accomplice.
The operation was a joint effort, with the Secretariat of National Defense, Secretariat of the Navy, and National Guard all participating. These groups provided perimeter security for the PFM agents during the operation.
The operation concluded with the seizure of the property used by the criminal cell. This property was used to distribute drugs in Playa del Carmen and the surrounding areas.
