Tax Agency Lifts Seals on Holbox Hotel After False Accusations

Personnel from the Tax Administration System of Quintana Roo removing seals from the Hotel Tierra del Mar in Holbox.

Holbox, Quintana Roo — The Tax Administration System of Quintana Roo (SATQ) has removed the seals placed on the Hotel Tierra del Mar in Holbox after a field investigation concluded that accusations of illegal alcohol sales were completely unfounded.

The operation, coordinated by the Secretariat of Finance and Planning (SEFIPLAN), was triggered by an anonymous complaint. As a precautionary measure while authorities investigated, SATQ personnel from Kantunilkín placed inspection seals on the property.

Over several days, state auditors conducted thorough reviews and inspections of the establishment. Officials determined that the allegations lacked any supporting evidence, finding no proof of irregular alcohol sales.

“The hotel is in compliance, and the complaint filed was unfounded,” state officials said when removing the seals and closing the case.

The Hotel Tierra del Mar, a boutique hotel known for its ecological concept and high standards of cleanliness and service, has resumed normal operations. The resolution provides legal certainty for high-quality service providers in the Mexican Caribbean destination.
