Suspect in Child Pornography Ring Captured in Puerto Morelos

The suspect detained in Puerto Morelos is now in prison

Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — The State Attorney General’s Office announced the arrest of a male identified as Tomás “N”, allegedly linked to the crime of human trafficking in its child pornography modality, in events that occurred in Puerto Morelos.

The capture was made after a judge granted the arrest warrant requested by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, as a result of an investigation file referred by the Federal Attorney General’s Office, which originated from an international complaint from Germany, related to the dissemination and possession of child sexual exploitation material.

According to the investigations, between June and August 2020, the accused allegedly participated in digital groups where he shared files and links with illicit content, in addition to operating with various digital identities to store said material.

After desk investigation and technological analysis work, authorities managed to identify the suspect, who allegedly used digital platforms to receive and store images and videos with illegal content.

Objects Seized During the Raid

During the raid carried out at a residence in the Villas Morelos subdivision in Puerto Morelos, the following objects were seized:

  • Cell phones
  • Laptop computers
  • USB drives
  • External hard drives
  • A modem

Finally, the detainee and the evidence were placed at the disposal of the corresponding authority, which will determine his legal status within the constitutional timeframe.
