Social Run Brings 3, 5 and 10K Routes to Cancún’s Nichupté Bridge

Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Nichupté Bridge will open its lanes to runners and walkers on Sunday, Sept. 27, when the Social Run brings a free evening of sport and active mobility to the span with routes of 3, 5 and 10 kilometers.

The event is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and forms part of the PuenteAndo program, which temporarily transforms the bridge into a recreational space. Organizers say the run is open to people of all ages and fitness levels.

Start Point and Route Options

Participants will gather at the so-called Red Bridge, where they can join the route and choose their distance. The three options are designed to accommodate everyone from casual walkers to more experienced runners: the 3-kilometer route suits those looking for a shorter outing or a walk, the 5-kilometer course offers an intermediate challenge, and the 10-kilometer route is aimed at those seeking a longer distance.

The event is not competitive, so each participant can complete the course at their own pace, whether walking, jogging or running. Organizers have framed the day under the slogan “Live the experience at your own pace.”

Who Can Take Part

The Social Run is open to the general public, including families, young people and adults. Those attending with children may find the shortest distance the easiest way to join in.

Because the activity takes place outdoors, organizers recommend comfortable clothing, athletic footwear and plenty of water to stay hydrated along the route.

Part of a Broader Program

The Social Run is one of several activities planned for PuenteAndo, a day that lets residents and visitors experience the Nichupté Bridge away from its usual vehicle traffic. Other recreational events are also on the schedule.

The initiative is led by the Quintana Roo state government in coordination with the state Mobility Institute (IMOVEQROO), the Quintana Roo Sports Commission (CODEQ) and the bridge’s administration. Admission is free, and participants need only prepare for the distance they choose.
