Cancún, Quintana Roo — Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced plans for a major celebration to mark the inauguration of the Nichupté Bridge, a strategic infrastructure project for Cancún and Quintana Roo, scheduled for early May.
During her daily press briefing, Sheinbaum confirmed she has a pending call with Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama to coordinate a “special party” for the opening, which is now expected on Saturday, May 1, or Sunday, May 2. This moves the date forward from earlier projections that pointed toward the end of the month.
“Yes, I have a pending call with Governor Mara; we want to have a special party for the inauguration,” Sheinbaum said.
The bridge is designed to improve mobility between Cancún’s hotel zone and the city center, enhancing urban connectivity in one of Mexico’s top tourist destinations.
Sheinbaum also reiterated her support for key infrastructure projects in the southeast, including the Maya Train, which she highlighted as a driver of regional development and economic growth.
