Rotary Club Playa del Carmen members planning social cause activities

Playa del Carmen, Mexico — In the final stretch of the current presidency, the Rotary Club Playa del Carmen is preparing an agenda of activities that includes social events, community projects, and social impact actions, prior to the leadership change scheduled for next July 1.

Activities Being Prepared

According to the president of the Rotary Club Playa del Carmen, Nicolás Solís, among the planned activities, the organization of a charity run and a new round of cleft lip and palate surgeries to be carried out in the coming months stand out, in addition to internal training and district conferences aimed at Club members.

The leader explained that, as part of the end-of-term activities, work is also underway on a special project that seeks to leave a permanent symbol of Rotary in the city, through the installation of a monument alluding to the values of friendship and service, whose design and location are still in the process of being defined to ensure it is a visible and useful space for the community.

Among the Activities, “Huevos al Asador” Stood Out

In the balance of recent actions, he highlighted the impact of the event “Huevos al asador,” which in its first edition brought together just over 50 participants, mainly businesspeople and citizens committed to social causes. The funds raised allowed for the performance of around 60 mastectomies and between 45 and 50 prostate antigen tests for people in vulnerable situations, in coordination with medical specialists, a local laboratory, and local deputy María José Osorio Rosas.

Finally, Solís indicated that the goal is to consolidate this type of health campaigns as an annual program, particularly within the framework of International Men’s Day, each November 19, with the aim of promoting prostate cancer prevention and fostering a culture of self-care among the male population in Playa del Carmen.
