Residents Detain Suspect After Attempted Robbery at Cancun Pizzeria

A man is held on the ground by residents after attempting to rob a pizzeria in Cancun's Paraiso Maya neighborhood.

Cancun, Quintana Roo — Residents of the Paraiso Maya neighborhood detained a man early Monday after he allegedly attempted to rob a pizzeria on Cenote Verde Lucero Street at the intersection of Boulevard Paraiso Maya.

Employees at the establishment called for help, and neighbors quickly gathered, subdued the suspect, and tied him up until police arrived at the scene.

Residents told authorities that robberies and thefts have occurred before in nearby businesses and apartments, and they called for increased police patrols in the area.
