Pachuca, Mexico — The state of Quintana Roo will be present at the upcoming National Tianguis of Magical Towns, an event aimed at strengthening tourism promotion, boosting cultural and economic exchange, and highlighting the patrimonial wealth that characterizes Mexico.

Elizabeth Quintanal Gómez, the Secretary of Tourism for the state of Hidalgo, announced that the city of Pachuca will host another edition of the National Tianguis of Magical Towns from November 13 to 16. She shared that logistical meetings have already begun for the major event, which will welcome the 172 Magical Towns from the national territory. The event is scheduled to take place at the Pachuca fairgrounds.

She stated that various pavilions for gastronomy and traditional medicine will be present, with academia also participating through training sessions. The event also includes hundreds of projected business meetings and an extensive press room. The National Tianguis of Magical Towns will bring together culture, gastronomy, and tourism.

Quintanal Gómez said that during the recent assembly of the country's tourism secretaries, it was announced that the head of the Federal Secretariat of Tourism will attend the Tianguis.

"We have information that 225 binational travel agencies will visit us, meaning they work in both markets, the United States and Mexico," she stated.

Mexico's "Pueblos Mágicos" program was born in 2001, an initiative of the Secretariat of Tourism with the goal of promoting economic and social development, in addition to creating jobs through the tourism exploitation of the natural, patrimonial, and cultural riches of certain localities.

Towns designated as Magical Towns receive resources to improve tourism infrastructure, handicrafts, gastronomy, local commerce, and urban image. To be considered a Magical Town, a locality must involve the three sectors of the federal, state, and municipal government, as well as the community and private and social sectors.

In Quintana Roo, there are 4 Magical Towns: Bacalar, known for its Laguna de los Siete Colores (Lagoon of Seven Colors); Cozumel, an island ideal for diving and snorkeling; Isla Mujeres, with beaches like Playa Norte recognized as one of the best in the world; and Tulum, famous for its Mayan ruins facing the turquoise blue of the Caribbean Sea.
