Quintana Roo Sailing Team Aims for 2025 National Circuit

Cancún, Quintana Roo — With more than 35 athletes in competition, the Quintana Roo delegation is prepared to participate in the first qualifying event of the 2025-2026 National Sailing Circuit, scheduled for October 9-12 at the Yucatán Yacht Club, confirmed Adriana Quiterio, president of the state's Sailing Association.

This event, organized by the Mexican Competitive Sailing Association (AMVCO), aims to establish the national ranking that will define the athletes who will represent Mexico in upcoming international sailing tournaments.

Broad Quintana Roo Representation

In the Optimist discipline, the Puerto Aventuras Sailing Sports Club will compete with:

  • Macarena Carredano Lelio
  • María José Tovar Esparza
  • Mikaela Acuña Carrión
  • Eloisa Padilla Lynch
  • Diego Rodríguez Hernández
  • Juan Pablo Tovar Esparza
  • Francisco Caraza Campos
  • Francesca Toma Lunghi
  • Lorenza Caraza Campos
  • Rodrigo Sánchez Vargas

Meanwhile, the Bacalar Nautical Club will participate with Emiliano Galassini, Diego Cabrera Teyuco, Otis Bale Douglas Cardow, and David Dusek Galuskova.

For its part, the Puerto Cancún Sailing School will field Anna Paulina Vizcaíno Alpuche, Jokin Luisa Arroyo, Kai Orlando Luisa Arroyo, Atzin Jones González, Alexander Suárez González, Anna Sophia Deschamps, and Matías Alonso Álvarez Nájera.

In Windsurfing, Pablo Campo Rodríguez will represent the Bacalar Nautical Club, while the Puerto Aventuras Sailing Sports Club will compete with Sarita Ambriz Rojas, Ari Ziv, Sebastian Lawrence González, Lucía Caraza Campos Rivera Torres, Alfonso Ambriz Rojas, and Anthony Defauw Hernández.

In the ILCA discipline, the Puerto Cancún Sailing School will present Juan Pablo Santana Alcocer, Ander Luisa Arroyo, Brisa Sofía Peña Velázquez, Sabrina Elena Hernández Prado, Victor Tibor Pérez Völgyi, Yago Carré Vidal, and Emiliano Zárate Calleja.

Additionally, the Puerto Aventuras Sailing Sports Club will participate with Andrés López Lomelí, Mia Acuña Carrión, and Santiago Valdés Arrieta.

High Expectations for Quintana Roo Talent

"We have very good expectations for this tournament due to the quality of the Quintana Roo sailors; we are confident they will perform well and, above all, that they can qualify for the Mexican team," stated Adriana Quiterio.

With this substantial delegation, Quintana Roo reaffirms its national leadership in developing sports talent and in promoting sailing as a competitive discipline, solidifying its position as one of the states with the largest representation in this qualifying event.

The competition will be key for the athletes, as the national ranking will define their participation in upcoming international competitions, including Pan American and world championships, where Quintana Roo's talent will seek to make its mark in nautical sports.
