QUINTANA ROO, Mexico — With the aim of guaranteeing safe and peaceful celebrations, the Quintana Roo Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) has reinforced its operations implemented for the patriotic holidays. The primary measures include a prohibition on the sale and use of fireworks, alongside a security reinforcement at mass events and high-traffic areas.
According to Marco Antonio Zamora Cáceres, Undersecretary of Command and Intelligence Centers, drones and monitoring technology will be used to detect clandestine points of sale and prevent the use of explosives on public roads. These actions, he explained, are part of the coordination with the state security council.
“Avoid consuming fireworks, report if you identify any point of sale. We are going to reinforce surveillance and we will be very attentive to any type of person who is selling and subsequently setting off fireworks, even with the use of technology and drones,” he stated.
The official recalled that preventive measures have allowed for a reduction in accidents in previous years and reiterated the call to not drive under the influence of alcohol. He recommended that the public opt for public transportation or a taxi in case of consuming alcoholic beverages and to adhere to road safety provisions.
Recommendations also include avoiding the purchase of explosives, keeping children and pets away from fireworks, as well as identifying emergency exits in crowded spaces. Citizen participation will be key, for which he asked the public to report any suspicious activities.
The SSC underscored that the objective is to safeguard the families and visitors who will celebrate the patriotic holidays throughout Quintana Roo.
