Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — In an act of social support, Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz delivered various forms of aid to citizens living in vulnerable situations in both the town of Leona Vicario and the municipal seat. Beneficiaries received roofing sheets to reinforce their homes, cargo tricycles to boost their economic activity, and a wheelchair managed through the municipal DIF System.
The aid was delivered through the coordination of the DIF, the Directorate of Social Management, and the Secretariat of Bienestar. During the event, the mayor stated, “Our goal is to generate a positive impact on people's lives, especially for those facing difficult situations. We want to transform their environment and improve their quality of life.”
In that sense, she reiterated that “the health of all Portomorelenses is a priority for my government. We will spare no effort to provide them with support and channel them to the corresponding medical institutions.”
During the home visits, Mr. Salvador Pérez Gómez and Mrs. Alicia Cimé Canto received bundles of roofing sheets to protect their homes for the upcoming rainy season. Mrs. Andrea Be Huicab was provided with a wheelchair, and the mayor assured that her government would monitor her medical care, particularly due to her diabetes condition.
Meanwhile, in the municipal seat, Abraham Sánchez Hernández and Teresa de Jesús Flores Morales received cargo tricycles requested from the Municipal Secretariat of Bienestar, headed by Alexander May Chi. The mayor emphasized that “these tricycles will not only facilitate their transportation but will also be a tool to strengthen the family economy.”
As part of its service model, the municipal government will continue with initiatives like "Miércoles Ciudadano" (Citizen Wednesday), which offers medical, dental, and ophthalmological services, in addition to receiving requests and delivering aid directly to citizens.
Blanca Merari concluded, “In Puerto Morelos, we continue building community, with a government that is close, humane, and committed to the well-being of our people.”
